HYE Store FAQStorage box questions
Clear answers about protocols, capacity, traffic, security, accounts and the two storage tiers.
What is a HYE Store storage box?
It is managed network storage that you access through standard file-transfer and backup protocols. HYEHOST operates the storage platform, so there is no virtual machine or operating system for you to administer.
Which protocols are supported?
HYE Store supports FTP, FTPS, SFTP, SCP, Samba/CIFS, rsync over SSH, HTTPS, WebDAV, BorgBackup, Restic, Rclone and network-drive access.
How much capacity can I order?
Choose between 500GB and 5TB in 100GB increments. The HYEHOST panel shows the exact recurring total before you order.
Is traffic unlimited?
Yes. There is no metered transfer allowance or overage charges. Fair capacity management applies during busy periods. Standard has a 300Mbps busy-period baseline and Performance has a 500Mbps busy-period baseline.
Can transfers run faster than the baseline?
Yes. Storage Box is burstable above the guaranteed baseline when shared capacity is available. Extra throughput is not a fixed or guaranteed burst rate.
What is the difference between Standard and Performance?
Standard is designed for high-capacity backups, archives and general file storage. Performance uses faster 10K SAS-backed storage and a higher 500Mbps busy-period baseline for more active workloads.
Are snapshots, schedules and sub-accounts included?
Yes. Both tiers include 10 snapshots, 10 schedules, up to 100 sub-accounts and up to 10 concurrent connections.
How does HYE Store protect uploaded files?
HYE Store provides upload scanning, suspicious archive protection, isolated storage quotas, malware quarantine and automated containment for destructive file activity.
How are credentials and access methods secured?
Each service receives a random username and hostname with individually generated credentials that can be rotated from the panel. SMB, SFTP, FTPS and HTTPS provide encrypted access, and every access method can be enabled individually. Services use isolated filesystem quotas and support IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity.
Does each storage box have its own hostname?
Yes. Every service receives a dedicated, unique subdomain on the HYE Store platform. No two customer services use the same service hostname or DNS record.
Is Storage Box separate from Storage VPS?
Yes. Storage Box uses its own RAIDZ storage pool and separate storage network. It does not share the Storage VPS data pool.
Where are Storage Box snapshots stored?
Snapshots are recovery points saved to another independent snapshot pool with its own RAIDZ protection, separate from the primary Storage Box pool. Customers should still retain an independent copy of critical data.
Where is HYE Store hosted?
HYE Store is currently available from HYEHOST's Wolverhampton, United Kingdom infrastructure. You can also browse our UK Storage Box service areas.
Should I choose HYE Store or Storage VPS?
Choose HYE Store for managed file and backup access without server administration. Choose Storage VPS when you need a complete KVM virtual machine with root access and custom software.
